Detailed guide
Title
'Pay' or 'Repay', followed by the name of the tax, duty, levy, or grant.
Summary
‘How to pay [the name of the tax, duty, levy or grant], and how long it takes for your payment to reach HMRC’.
Body
There are 5 optional payment methods that you may need to include:
- Pay through your online bank account
- Pay by Direct Debit
- Pay by debit or corporate credit card
- Pay by bank transfer (this can include payments for both UK and overseas accounts)
- Pay by cheque
Headings and sub-headings
You may not need to include every option and can omit the sections accordingly.
Do not include numbers in section headings.
When to pay
Begin by adding a heading 2 for ‘When to pay’ and add either:
- guidance on how users can find out when they should pay
- a timeline of when the payment must be made
Then include the following:
If the deadline is on a weekend or bank holiday, make sure your payment reaches HMRC by the end of the previous working day.
If you do not pay by the deadline, you may need to pay a penalty, interest or both.
Os bydd y dyddiad cau ar y penwythnos neu ar ŵyl y banc, gwnewch yn siŵr bod eich taliad yn dod i law CThEF erbyn y diwrnod gwaith olaf cyn hynny.
Os na fyddwch yn talu erbyn y dyddiad cau, efallai y bydd yn rhaid i chi dalu cosb, llog, neu’r ddau.
## What you need
You need your (number)-character reference number. This reference will always be made up of xx numbers and xx characters (for example, xxxx).
You can find this on xxx.
If you use an incorrect reference number:
* there will be a delay in the payment being allocated correctly
* you will receive a payment reminder
## Yr hyn y bydd ei angen arnoch
Bydd angen cyfeirnod unigryw eich trafodyn arnoch, sy’n (number) o gymeriadau (er enghraifft, xxxx). Bydd y cyfeirnod hwn bob amser yn cynnwys xx rhif a xx gymeriad.
Mae hwn i’w weld ar xxx.
Os byddwch yn defnyddio cyfeirnod anghywir:
* bydd oedi cyn i’r taliad gael ei ddyrannu’n gywir
* byddwch yn cael nodyn i’ch atgoffa i wneud taliad
Green button for online payment methods
For accessibility the green ‘pay now’ button must be under a heading and section that refers to all online payment methods. This is so screen reader users understand that the button applies to all payment methods under this heading.
Online payment methods
Start with the businesses’ preferred method, through your bank account, and follow with Direct Debit, if customers can pay that way.
## Paying online through your bank account
You can pay by approving a payment through your online bank account by selecting the ‘pay by bank account’ option.
You will be directed to sign in to your online or mobile banking account to approve your payment.
You will need to have your online banking details to hand to pay this way.
The payment is usually instant but can sometimes take up to 2 hours to show in your account.
## Talu drwy drosglwyddiad banc
Os byddwch yn talu drwy CHAPS neu Daliadau Cyflymach, gallwch gyflwyno’ch taliad ar yr un diwrnod, neu’r diwrnod nesaf.
Os byddwch yn talu drwy Bacs, dylech ganiatáu 3 diwrnod gwaith i’ch taliad gyrraedd CThEF.
Rydym yn argymell eich bod yn gwirio amserau prosesu ac uchafswm y terfynau trosglwyddo a osodir gan eich banc cyn i chi dalu.
### Y manylion cyfrif i’w defnyddio os yw’ch cyfrif yn y DU

- enw’r cyfrif — XXX
### Y manylion cyfrif i’w defnyddio os yw’ch cyfrif dramor

Os bydd angen, gallwch roi’r cyfeiriad canlynol fel cyfeiriad bancio CThEF i’ch banc chi:
$A
Address
$A
If there are two ways to pay by Direct Debit, separate the methods by using a heading 3. If only one method can be used, a heading will not be needed.
## Paying online by Direct Debit
Set up a Direct Debit through your HMRC online account.
You’ll need the Government Gateway user ID and password you used when you registered for the account.
The Direct Debit will not collect return payments over £20 million. If you owe more, you will need to pay another way.
## Talu ar-lein
Gallwch dalu drwy gymeradwyo taliad drwy’ch cyfrif banc ar-lein – gallwch wneud hyn drwy ddewis yr opsiwn ‘talu drwy gyfrif banc’.
Bydd gofyn i chi fewngofnodi i’ch cyfrif banc ar-lein, neu’ch cyfrif banc symudol, i gymeradwyo’ch taliad.
Fel arfer, bydd y taliad yn digwydd ar unwaith, ond weithiau mae’n gallu cymryd hyd at 2 awr i ymddangos yn eich cyfrif.
Fel arall, gallwch wneud taliad yn llawn ar-lein drwy ddefnyddio cerdyn debyd neu gerdyn credyd corfforaethol. Bydd ffi na ellir ei had-dalu yn cael ei chodi os byddwch yn defnyddio cerdyn debyd neu gredyd corfforaethol. Ni allwch dalu â cherdyn credyd personol.
Bydd eich taliad yn cael ei dderbyn ar y dyddiad y byddwch yn ei wneud, ac nid y dyddiad y mae’n cyrraedd cyfrif CThEF (gan gynnwys ar wyliau banc a phenwythnosau).
Bydd yn rhaid i chi sicrhau bod y manylion a nodwch yn cyd-fynd â’r rheini sydd gan eich banc neu ddarparwr y cerdyn. Er enghraifft, dylai’r cyfeiriad bilio gyd-fynd â’r cyfeiriad y mae’ch cerdyn wedi’i gofrestru iddo ar hyn o bryd.

### Making a single payment
You’ll need to set up a payment each time you pay HMRC.
You should set up the payment at least:
5 working days before your return due date (the first time you do it)
3 working days before your return due date if you use the same bank details as a previous single payment
The payments will show on your bank statement as ‘HMRC NDDS’.
### Paying your bill automatically
HMRC will automatically collect the payment from your bank account based on the amount in your return. You’ll only need to set the Direct Debit up once.
Set it up at least 4 working days before your payment due date.
The payments will show on your bank statement as ‘HMRC SDDS’.
Payments will be automatically collected from your bank account. This is usually 4 days after your return and payment due date. We will send you a message with the exact date and amount after you file your return.

## Paying by debit or corporate credit card
You can make a full payment online using a debit or corporate credit card. There is a non-refundable fee if you use a corporate credit or debit card. You cannot pay by personal credit card.
Your payment will be accepted on the date you make it and not the date it reaches HMRC’s account (including weekends and bank holidays).
